What can I do with a biter? (BF)

DD2 is 9mo and BF. She has never taken to a dummy and finds it hard to self settle, so I usually BF her to sleep and co sleep. Recently she has started to bite/play with my nipples at the end of each feed. I have tried screaming fuck saying "no" very firmly but she is not getting it. My mum and sister say it's time for me to stop BF but I can't face the tears and really wanted to get to 12moSad Help!

In my experience of biting babies, they love a bit of reaction so my frothing only encouraged DS to to it more with a smile on his face. Hmm

I just used to stifle my screams and act really bored and just say quite offhand I don't like you biting as it hurts. And then remove him from boob.

On the other hand, as it is happening at sleep time it might be she is too tired to latch properly. I think you should unclamp her though for any biting but calmly. I hate all that nipple fiddling. I'm still BFing DS and he is 14mths now. I didn't think we would get through it all but he is really quite good now.

I'm in the same boat with my 10m DS. It's really annoying! I can't help reacting negatively and shout no, take him off immediately ( so he knows there's a consequence to biting), and put him back on after a few minutes. He's got 3 teeth now and it really hurts!

I've found DS bites if he is teething. So I try to get some gel on his gums or rub them with a piece of ice wrapped in a cloth a few minutes before I feed him.
