vacant expression???

Hi I started expressing milk a week ago so dp could feed ds and do the odd night feed so I could sleep. At first it went well I was easily able to express 4oz within 20 mins no problem and ds took to bottle straight away. I expressed twice a day at roughly the same time. 5 days in I got a pain in my breast went to the docs and it was mastitis so got anti biotics which I'm still taking. The past two days the milk expression is not working anymore, the day before yesterday I managed to get 2 oz, it took ages. Yesterday I couldn't get anything. My breasts are not feeling as full as they did before mastitis but they are still quite drippy\leaky. Does anyone have any experience of this please?

What are you using to express? I had a similar experience and changed from a hand pump to an electric one (Medela Swing). It was very expensive but was fantastic.

Using the avent hand pump, iv seen those electric ones but totally out my budget! Think I'll force myself to baby clinic this morn and see HV (just want to go bk to bed) thanks for advice booby!

When i breastfed my first baby (15 years ago) I had a hand pump and it took me forever to express. I too got mastitis and every other nightmare that comes with breastfeeding. Your clinic should be able to let you have the use of an electric pump at no cost to you. Hang in there, I know its exhausting but once you master expressing you won't look back. I fed for 5 months and for the last two exclusively expressed before weaning. Good luck glamourmama.
