DS1 is 6yo and has had really nasty reflux since the summer. Actually, I think he's had it all along, but he was only able to verbalise it in the summer last year.
I suspected from around age 2 that he was tongue tied as we had had loads of problems wiht breastfeeding when he was tiny eg blanched and pinched nipples and the lipstick shape too. Also poor weight gain and never ending feeds.
But, the feeding kind of sorted itself out, and actually I think with skilled help, we might have been able to feed without any problems at all.
Anyway, i read on here about the link between reflux and tongue tie so we got ds1's tt done at the beginning of January.
He is now off his medication completely. He no longer bloats up when he has to chew and is able to eat larger portions before becoming full of air. He is enjoying new foods and fussy eating seems to be a thing of the past. He has loads of energy and has colour in his cheeks for the first time in ages.
In short, he is a different child.
There seems to be an opinion amongst some HCPs only to do a tt if it interferes with speech or feeding. DS1's speech is fine, apart from a tiny lisp, and the feeding wasn't that much of an issue, so had his tt been picked up as a baby, we may well have been told that it wasn't a problem.
Just thought this might be of interest to those wondering whether or not to get tt divided.
