Pain after missing a feed

DS is nearly 7 months and has been EBF (the wee monkey wouldn't entertain a bottle). He's exploring solid food now, and yesterday he missed his usual lunchtime-ish milk feed. We were out for the day and by the time we got home my right breast was really full and feeling uncomfortable, but by then it was teatime and I didn't want to feed him at that point and mess up our routine so I just gave him his dinner and bathed him as usual, and he was quite happy with that.

However by the time he was ready for his last feed before bed my boob was downright painful, and although it eased a bit after he fed it still didn't feel back to normal. I fed him again about an hour later (wouldn't usually but he was unsettled anyway and I was still not feeling comfortable) and I got stabby pains when my milk let down, which have persisted. It was sore all last night, and is still painful today - the whole breast feels sort of bruised IYSWIM? Anyone experienced this? Is it just a hangover from the near critical-mass it achieved yesterday (it felt like an overinflated balloon that was going to pop any second)?

DS thumped me in the boob this morning and I yelped so loud I gave him a fright and made him cry Sad

I would make sure to feed first from this breast today.

Watch out for any flu symptons, fever, hot red breast as it could turn into mastitis if you are unlucky. More info here

Thanks, I'll do that. Thanks for the link as well, I'm just about to go out but I'll have a proper read of it later. I hope it doesn't turn into mastitis, it doesn't sound very pleasant. (And I'm guessing would require a trip to the GP, which I hate!)
