Blue and needing winding?

My MIL keeps telling me that my baby is very windy and keeps mentioning he still looks a little blue. I don't see it! Where is supposed to be blue tinged or is it some sort of myth? I can tell when he has wind because we get funny faces pulled at us and Elvis type smiles. We do wind him, he's 2 weeks old and bottle fed expressed breast milk. This is DC1, I'm not disagreeing with MIL and we get on great, I just really don't see this blueness.

Don't let her undermine your confidence. Your baby, you know him best!

This is a good article on 'wind' and the obsession with it!

Wind will not make a baby blue. A baby going blue is because they're not getting enough oxygen and you should be calling an ambulance!

Yes, that's a great article and a really interesting blog Truthsweet

Funnily enough, my Mum always reckoned she could spot when my babies needing winding- they had a 'shadow' over their top lip. Hmm

Oh really interesting article and also the link to the Howard Chilton one - wish I'd read that when ds was newborn!

"He's burping because he's crying, he's not crying because he needs burping."

SIL also told me this turning blue thing, I think it is very old skool advice.

The blue or grey tinge above the lip is a weird but persistent myth.

How would wind in the stomach make the upper lip change colour? How would the wind get there?

If there is any real blueness on or near the lips or the face, it is serious, as Rita says.
