Mastitis management...

I've caught it in the early stages (well, if such a thing is possible!) and I've got antibiotics for it, I'm feeding as much as poss, but how often should I express? I get very little when I do. DS is 6 1/2 months.

p.s. when does the pain go away?

Feeding directly is more effective than pumping, but if you need to be apart from baby you may find hand expressing easier as you can be as gentle as you need to be over the sore patch.

Sorry missed your 2nd post - if you can normally take ibuprofen then that's the rec. painkiller (over paracetamol as ibuprofen is an anti-inflammatory but if you can't take it then paracetamol is fine [assuming you can take paracetamol]) that should manage the pain - if it doesn't you could ask your GP for another NSAID.
