Biting

DS is 8 months and has two - sharp - teeth. He's started biting. At first it was just once in the morning probably to wake me up, but now it's every feed. What can I do? If anything? It hurts!

Ouch! He can only bite when not sucking, so keep watching for that change from sucking. My DD went through a similar thing when she had 2 teeth, and I dealt with it by saying 'OW' very loudly, which usually surprised her and made her let go, (but have a finger poised by their mouth ready to break the latch if they start nipping) then I stopped feeding her and put her down. She didn't mean to hurt me, but soon learnt that if she bit me, the feed stopped abruptly and she got put down. Luckily she stopped and we carried on bf.

It hurts doesn't it? My DD has loads of teeth now. If she bites, I put my finger in her mouth to break suction and move her away for a moment. She kind of knows not to do it then.

Yeah... I did the ouch thing and he giggled! haha. HAve been just taking him off and ending the feed. Hopefully he'll get the message soon! Thanks.

I gave up at 10 months because of the biting- ds thought it was hilarious to bite and chuckled away to himself. He'd basically had enough of bf I guess and was just mucking around. Hope you find a solution
