Has anyone expressed to feed older dc?

Following on from another thread it's got me thinking.

Ds2 stopped bfing 12 weeks ago when dd was born. He drinks cows milk, water and fruit juice. Am considering expressing a cup for him a day as he would still benefit from immunity and all the other lovely stuff in it. It's got to be better than a glass of cow milk? He's only just turned 4.

So if I did, would it be really odd to express off enough for my almost 12 year old? This isn't a troll thread and not one to start argument. Am genuinely thinking this. Also think where do I stop? Do I use it for cooking?

Actually not sure this is right place to post this as not about breast/bottle feeding babies so I'll contact MMHQ to see if there is a better spot Smile

I think this is the perfect place. Smile

I think its a great idea for both children and defintley better than cowjuice. Wink The only concern I would worry about is the faff of expressing when you have a young baby and also would the 12 year old be a bit freaked by it, my 10 year old would.

Would your 12 year old drink it?

MamaMaiasaura · 15/01/2012 14:11

I don't know if 12 (almost) would want to and I wouldn't force him too (slip it into his weetabix Grin) it's just a thought.

I think ds2 would want it but again just a thought and not sure I can be doing with faffing of expressing. It does taste nice tho Blush

I've wondered this too, re. my 4 year old DD. I never managed to breastfeed her which really made me sad, but breastfeeding DS (4months) has gone well this time, and I wonder if offering her a cup of breast milk would be a good thing, especially with all the colds etc. going around. My DH thinks it's weird though... Hmm which makes me feel a bit cross as of course giving a cup of milk from a cow is fine...

MamaMaiasaura · 15/01/2012 21:32

I mooted the idea and ds1 said he'd like a glass of it "as it tastes great, is good for him and better than milk out of a cow which is weird!" but please don't tell friends as they wouldn't get it. Bless him.

Not sure I will express but definately interesting to think about Smile

I'd feed DD expressed milk more if I could be bothered to express more. OK she's only 2 but still.
