Infant formula - they know it's illegal to discount it...

..but they do anyway.

Twice in the last week, once in Moss and once in Boots, I've seen cut-price infant formula.

Both times I took it to a member of staff and told them very politely it was illegal to do this.

Both times they said (in hushed tones) things along the lines of "Ah, yes, I think we knew that" or "She's right, actually".

So why do they do it?

what did they say when you asked WPC Hunker?

hunkermunker · 16/01/2006 22:55

In Boots they argued with me a bit, but the manager backed me up immediately. Perhaps the woman who argued with me had been really proud of her nice handwriting on the discount labels or something and was annoyed I was going to make her have to take them all off?

No, it's to get rid of stock near its sell-by date - and it's illegal, so they shouldn't do it.

Could do, HC.

What annoyed me most was they knew it was illegal and they discounted it anyway, because obviously their customers are too thick to have any inkling of the law.

OP posts:
hunkermunker · 16/01/2006 23:05

So what, just discount it and forget it's illegal to do so?

But i can say that because i always got DD's soya milk formula on prescription

hunkermunker · 16/01/2006 23:21

Oh, for all sorts of reasons that make it illegal to do it!
