Formula Feeding -how much when weaning

Hi
I've just switched to FF and my LO is 5 months and we have started weaning. I am not replacing any milk feeds with solids as its early days but wondered how many feeds a day do most people give their LO's. My LO always seems so hungry even though we are starting solids.
Also I see that Aptimil does a follow on milk for weaning but says from 6 months on. Has anybody used this for babys under 6 months, is it ok to use?
any info appreciated. thanks

KirstTLou - follow on is not necessary for any babies, but it's not permitted to be marketed to babies under 6 mths. I don't suppose small amounts would be harmful for a baby of 5 mths, but you might find the higher iron content is more likely to be constipating for a younger baby. Is your HV approachable about this sort of thing? She could ask you about what solids your baby is having, and give you an idea of what would mean in terms of his milk intake. As you say, though, at this early stage, milk does not reduce, and the solids are small and more 'add on' than replacement.
