DD is 8 weeks old and am EBF and since yesterday 10am she has stopped feeding! Am really worried about my milk supply.

What should I do, am really worried about DD as she slept from 12.30am to 7am but that's only because I woke her up as she'd hardly fed at all yesterday!

Ironically I took her to the bf clinic yesterday morning where she had her last feed at 10am as I thought the problem I had was over supply and fast let down! She was feeding ever 1-2 hours and crying all the time! Loads of wet nappies and dirty ones! Mind you they were green stools! NOW she's refusing to feed and if she does it's very sloppy and not or very long! Hardly any output too!

I don't want to give up bf as I've got this far! Please someone help - what do I do as I have a feeling that my milk is going!!!

Gina, sorry to hear this....but first things first, your milk supply is not so fragile that it will disappear like this.

It sounds to me that your baby is a bit poorly - she is 'off her food' as a result. If she does not perk up, or if you are still worried, you could seek advice. A call to the HV this morning would be v. useful, anyway. You did the right thing to wake her up - she needs to stay hydrated. 24 hours not feeding well is something that merits concern. If she is still not feeding by this afternoon, you would be justified in seeing the doctor.

Your milk supply will remain - maybe a bit battered (!) but nothing that cannot be repaired and reversed. In the meantime, express by pump or by hand...and continue to cuddle and give lots of skin to skin so you can respond to early feeding cues.

Hope this helps.

Thank you for advice

I'm currently at the hospital as I'm having a GGT.

She fed at 7.10am but only for 10mins. Since then she hasn't want rd to know! She is sleeping alot and I don't know whether to wake her or let her sleep. I'm so worried about DD and my milk supply.

My breasts felt quite full this morning but I don't know whether I'll get anything out if I express.

HereIgo - I thought this was the problem originally and I was expressing a little before each feed! I was doing this up until
Her last proper feed yesterday at 10am!

I managed to feed her just before 10am this morning but she only fed for 7mins! I'm really worried about her as she is sleeping alot!!

I'm just so concerned that my milk will start to reduce and then I'll have another problem on my hands!!

Gina, your milk may reduce temporarily, but this is not a problem.

You do need to express, but there is no panic.

Your milk supply will return in full when your baby starts feeding normally again.

I do think you need a medical opinion on her lack of appetite and continued sleeping.

Hope today goes better for you.

Thanks tiktok. DD has picked up a bit today! Am disturbing her every 2 hours for her to wake and feed and it seems to be working! I think my milk supply is ok and think that DD is having a growth spurt! I hope so anyway!

If things get worst I will def be taking get to see the GP in the morning x
