Biting 7 month old

BF DD is 7 MO and is teething something terrible (plus I think she has a bit of a cold too). Everything is getting bitten, and since this morning that includes me! She had most of a feed this morning at 9, but since then every time I try to feed her she bites immediately. When I calmly take her off she cries but she either won't go back on, or bites me again. She is eating solids ok, and she's drunk a little milk from a cup, not even an ounce (she won't take a bottle). I'm just worried about her getting dehydrated - am I being paranoid?

She generally seems ok apart from her teeth obviously hurting a lot - she's had Bonjela, Calpol and Ibuprofen over the course of the day and she's playing away happily refusing to nap right now. Do you think this will resolve itself when her teeth stop hurting, and should I be worried about the lack of fluids? She's had a fruit pot, and she has lots of veg at dinner, so that's a fair amount of water in the food. Please tell me this is normal and won't be the beginning of the end of BF Sad

Hi!
Sounds like teething is making her really uncomfortable, hope she is a bit more settled tonight.

Keep offering the breast and she will learn not to bite (hopefully quickly). You are doing all the right things - offering milk or water in a beaker will help keep her mouth comfortable as well.

I wouldn't worry at the moment about lack of fluids, keep an eye on how wet her nappies are though and ring gp if she seems unwell or if not having plenty wet nappies.

Good Luck- she will settle again and get back to bf more comfortably soon.

Thanks so much for your response. Smile She refused and refused all night but she's just had a mammoth feed (she point blank refused at first but I found some advice on here to try bonjela just before a feed and it worked!). I'm so happy - even if she's still fussy for a while I know she hasn't gone off the breast entirely. It's amazing how long a day feels when your baby's unhappy, isn't it? Thank you again - I feel a bit more sane now Grin
