teething 12 week old?

My Ds is very unhappy :-( crying all the time.

He has all the signs of teething- hot head, dribbley, stuffing fists in mouth etc. His dirty nappies have got from 1 or 2 a day to yesterday 6! They sound like huge explosions but when I change him there's not a lot there.
He used to be a very efficient nurser but the last couple of days he's been on me for 40mins at a time as opposed to 8 mins- is this common when teething?
My health visitor seemed to think he was just missing the attention he received over xmas? As he's only 12 weeks she though teething was unlikely...

I'm worried about him as he's my first- has anybody else experienced this early on and if so how long do these bouts of teething last?

TIA x

Yes, it's probably teething, especially with the nappies. My two started early and people are always surprised when I say (DD's first two at 4m and DS's at 3m) so don't worry about what the hv says.

This can last a few days or a few weeks. Sorry, can't be more specific but it really does depend on how easily they home through. DS has just had a 2 1/2 day nursing strike which we have had to put down to teething as three came through at once, one of which we had been waiting for for a month!

Oh and get some teething gel and when he really unhappy, resort to Calpol.

Good luck.Smile
