BF to cup?

Just preparing for the future really. Not sure if I'm going to have a whole year off or 8 months but I'm wondering how you transfer a fully bf baby to drinking from other means. She's coming up for 20 weeks. Should I start offering her a cup now so she's pretty much got the gist at 12 months? Or do I use beakers? I'm trying to avoid the whole bottle thing as she won't take one and I really don't want to go down the starvation route as I had to with ds, so I'm planning to stick with bf but this is unfamiliar territory. Also, how do you avoid them thinking cups are just for water? Ds would never accept milk in a cup and still won't (he's nearly 2)

Em, I have no advice for you, sorry, but will watch this thread with interest because I plan to do the same with ds (though I'm not going back to work so I don't have the same time constraints as you).

Ds is 24 weeks; I occasionally give him a sip out of a cup (open, me holding it), with just water in it - at the moment he just looks very surprised and most of it dribbles out but he does swallow some.

Not sure how to deal with the milk thing, apart from suggesting that you express regularly and offer him b/m in a cup (in the expectation he won't actually drink any of it, ie give it as an extra). I don't express so it may have to wait until cows milk at a year!

ds2 is 10 months...
has used a normal sippy cup for water since on solids at 6 monthd (he also has ebm in a bottle) and will have an open cup without any problem

ds1 was bottle fed from much ealrier and wouldnt entertain a sippy cup until almost 2 years

ds (9m) will drink from cup, beaker or even bowl, but only water with solids. i don't express either, hadn't even thought of milk drinking as a problem - going back to work when he's 1. do you think should practise on a tiny bit of cows milk?
