Weaning off the breast

I have a 5 month old daughter who I would like to start weaning off the breast at 6 months. Can anybody give me advice on how they did it. I am quite worried as she normally needs breastfeeding to get her to sleep at night.

Bumping this for you.

Possible ideas
Wean in day time but keep bed time feed
Don't let her fall asleep when feeding to get her used to falling asleep without you

It may help replies if you let us know why you want to wean

I would start by replacing a feed that does not precede going to bed. So, give her a bottle mid morning. After a week or two, replace the afternoon feed (after her nap). Then, offer her a bottle after you have done the bedtime breastfeed. After a few days, skip the evening BF and just give her a bottle. It's quite possible that she will fall asleep just like she did on the breast. Good luck!
