8 week old painful wind and reduction in numbers of dirty nappies

Have returned home from 5 days away for Christmas where LO was described as happy and contented baby by everyone who met him. Prior to going away he was having 4/5 dirty bright yellow nappies each day. Whilst away he stopped doing this. By day three he was back to one per day. Now we are home he is up to two per day but these are more full and darker in colour.

He is now also suffering awful painful wind after each daytime feed (never at night). He starts feeding and after a few seconds his face crumples and he starts screaming in pain, jiggling him around etc elicits burps and farts. This can be the start of up to three hour screaming episodes and he can't sit still in between screams.

He is EBF although I did express twice over the Christmas period. I can produce up to 150ml in twenty minutes when expressing. I wondered if this excess gas might be due to the let down but I don't seem to spray milk although he does sometimes seem to have a face full of milk when he comes off the breast. I tend to only offer one breast each feed, we are in no kind of schedule, he is literally fed on demand. We're using infamous and I try to make sure I get some burps up when feeding (sometimes not at night as he falls asleep on breast)

I'm going to try hand expressing a little milk before each feed to see if that could be the issue but any other thoughts or experience would be really helpful.

In addition to this I find it really hard to settle him to sleep, I can only get him to have a proper sleep in the day if I take him out in the pram so he's having one big sleep in the day and then sleeping from roughly 2230-0830 with two feeds between. I don't know if this erratic sleeping pattern could also be affecting the wind.

I should have said that I have posted before as was taking antibiotics that I was concerned were affecting him. I am now back on these antibiotics so do wonder if MIT have anything to do with this although the screaming does really only begin at the time of feeding.

Thanks in advance for any thoughts
