Heat and blue veins

Hopefully you can help; I've got blue veins standing out on one breast and some heat running through those parts. What should I do?

I should that they only appeared this evening. I'm a bit worried.

Any pain or redness (esp. red wedge/triangle coming up from nipple)? How old is baby?

CrashBang · 01/01/2012 01:00

No redness. My partner thinks it might be the baby pulling the breast. The baba is nearly 8 weeks and baba and I still have work to do on positioning. He feeds all the time, well practically every hour and has done for a few weeks now.

The pain is fairly low level. More like a hot thread (along the vein). It hasn't got worse but it doesn't feel right.

Could be a plugged duct if the pain is very specific in origin.

See here for home treatments. I found combing with a wide tooth comb very helpful when I had a plugged duct (if you do it in the shower you can use lots of shower gel to stop the comb dragging - if you do it on dry land you can use lotion or hand cream just make sure you rinse your breast off afterwards so baby doesn't eat any!)

Hope it feels better very soon.
