Is this t 6w growth spurt??

My DS was 6w yesterday, and from Saturday was much sleepier than usual - doing 3-4hourly cycles all by himself. Got me very excited as he slept so well in t day and then from 12 to 745am. But today, after another good night sleep (woke once at 5 but only for a quick feed), he's been feeding almost constantly since t afternoon. Literally going from one side to t other without a break...my breasts feel empty and I'm worried as he hadn't slept during t day at all...so he is shattered but won't let himself fall asleep...

Dies this sound like t 6w growth spurt and if so, how long will it last? And Will my milk supply suffice during all the constant feeding or should I supplement with formula?

TIA x

My ds is 9 weeks and went through something similar a couple of weeks ago, it lasted two-three days I think it was the six week growth spurt, I was advised not to supplement with formula as the constant feeding is what stimulates our bodies to produce more milk for them, hope this helps x

My ds also cluster feeds, he feeds almost constantly from 6pm til 10pm and this enables him to then sleep til 5am... as long as they are having yellow poop in their nappies they are getting enough milk!

This sounds like the classic growth spurt. As previously advised it is best to avoid supplementing and feed feed feed. Carry/feed in a sling too if you have one and this will help increase ur supply.

If you eat porridge oats this will help naturally increase supply or you could take a herbal mix from www.breastfeedingheaven.co.uk to quickly boost your supply during growth spurts.

These times are greatly demanding but are natures way of increasing your supply, it should calm down within one week and get easier again
