but I stopped bf over 2 weeks ago and it only just started hurting yesterday. I didn't stop cold turkey, when I mean I stopped two weeks ago, I mean that I stopped giving her the one or maybe 2 that she had been having at night. She had been only have those for about a month so I don't think it's mastitis or something lkike it I just don't know what it could be.

Hi trinity

Have you stopped feeding entirely?

When you say sore, which part is sore? The nipple, the skin, deep inside?

Is it hot to the touch anywhere?

trinityrocks · 12/01/2006 09:49

hi, yes I mean I've stopped entirely. ummit feels like its the inside that hurting, not the nipple or skin. it doesn't feel hot to touch or anything
I've just realised that maybe an ill fitting bra is not helping but why is it only one thats hurting then.

sounds like thrush perhaps

Miaou · 12/01/2006 09:52

Well an ill fitting bra gives me a pain on one side only, so that's certainly a possibility.

If you try to express, can you get any milk out any more?

trinityrocks · 12/01/2006 09:54

yes I can easily still get milk out. I haven't tried to get alot out with a pump as obviously I don't want to encourage my supply but I can hand express quite a good few dribbles without much effort at all

I've not had thrush before so I can't comment on that - but from what I've heard that does sound possible, particularly as the pain is deep inside!

trinityrocks · 12/01/2006 09:58

so should I go to the gp or ride it out?
Have to go now but will be abck on later
Thanks for your replies

Hi - I went to the Doc's last week as I had dropped a feed and had a deep pain in one of my breasts. I'd had thrush once before but the pain wasn't in the same place and it was much more tender and sore to the touch this time. Anyway - the Doc gave me a 10 day course of tabs and the pain has gone. GP will probably want to treat your little one as well.
