Hi all. Dd is sixteen months and still demand fed. I currently have a d and v bug so dp is looking after her as we don't want her to catch it. however it is possible she already had it as she was sick twice on Saturday night. But those were her only symptoms she was right ad rain the next day. Is it possible this is the same bug even though she was sick five days ago? in which case I may as well feed her? Or even it is not the same bug should I feed her regardless given she was in close ncobtact with me before I started throwing up? Me not feeding her is making her very upset.

It's best to feed her - she'll have been exposed to it by being near you anyway, and your milk will contain antibodies which will help her get over it more quickly. Plus if she is being sick, breastmilk is the best substance for her because it's full of very easily absorbed vitamins, salts etc and will help keep her hydrated even if she brings it straight back up.

It is possible that she had it a few days ago and your body made the antibodies then, if you were perhaps incubating it.

I'd say feed her. The valuable antibodies you are producing will go into her via your milk- which is prob why she didn't get bug so bad!! Keep going- obv very worth it- but just keep your general hygiene oc! Hope u feel better soonSmile

Which would explain her quick recovery.

Feed her anyway, it's the best thing to do either way!

Get well soon Smile, it is horrid breastfeeding whilst you have D&V Sad

Thanks all. Saturday was the first ever time dd was sick in her life and this is my first d and v in about fifteen years so we generally are not blighted by the sickness fairy! Praying that she has already had this and we don't end up with sick baby and cancelled christmas Sad Sad Sad
