Shortage of gripe water?

PerishStorm · 18/12/2011 12:06

We've been using gripe water with our LO and have run out and cannot get anymore ANYWHERE. We've tried Tesco, Sainsbury's, Boots and a local Pharmacy and they are all out! Is anyone else having this problem?

Natzer · 18/12/2011 20:17

yep, there has been a shortage for a while, not sure why, I have had to buy it on line, have just ordered 10 bottles. Blush

dribbleface · 18/12/2011 20:38

that will be why i couldn't find any! bugger!

nannyl · 18/12/2011 21:48

oh no Sad

i'll go to my teeny tiny pharmacy and hope....

TerrysNo2 · 18/12/2011 21:59

same problem here, none in waitrose, boots or sainsburys - trying Dentinox Colic Drops as it has some of the same ingredients but doesn't seem as effective.

Let me know if you find any, probably when DD stops needing it huh!

I have just got the very last bottle from the LLoyds pharmacy in our little village.

we are out in the middle of nowhere, so probably why they had (just) 1 bottle left

phew

nannyl · 19/12/2011 12:09

(the CO-OP had sold out though)

BelleStar · 20/12/2011 02:38

When I asked at the pharmacy (having already tried tesco and waitrose) they said there was some sort of problem with woodward's so haven't had any for a while. They didn't know what the problem was though. Weird.

PerishStorm · 20/12/2011 08:17

Belle it's really bizarre. I know Boots do their own version (mmm apple flavour) but according to the website, that is sold out too. Hope my amazon order comes today. Am going to try the local pharmacy as well and see if I can stock up!

ive just bought some from my local village pharmacy in Bingham, nottingham. The staff reassure me they have plenty in supply

nannyl · 20/12/2011 17:37

bought some more in my local morrisons

there were 2 boxes left but the boxes were damaged (the bottles were fine and in date though Smile)

SpannerPants · 20/12/2011 20:01

We seem to have gripe water locally but have a shortage of teething powders instead!

Makinglists · 20/12/2011 20:08

Teething powder - Ashton and Parsons is in short supply here - someone said something about a problem at the factory -wonder if its all made by the same people????

PerishStorm · 22/12/2011 18:02

Managed to get some extra from a small local pharmacy... perhaps try there before the larger stockists? They may well have a slower turnover of stock

Found a stash in a small Manc pharmacy... None in Boots or Tesco though :(

nicky0204 · 13/01/2012 16:41

hi, I have bought some today in my local chemist (cheswick green)

bilblio · 16/02/2012 21:45

Just realised there's a shortage tonight. We have one dose left, DS only occasionally has problems, but it's always in the middle of the night and usually for a few nights in a row. He was bad last night. DH has trekked round various shops tonight but come back with infacol which I think takes a few days to kick in.

BuffyFairy · 16/02/2012 22:50

If anyone is near to Wimbledon I have a bottle of boots gripe water and a bottle of Infacol I can give away as dd no longer using them. Both unopened.

bilblio · 18/02/2012 03:37

I managed to get some today after phoning a couple of chemists. They said they'd restored this week so the problems may be over.

CumpyGrunt · 18/02/2012 03:58

I know that it has been a struggle to get Ashton & Parsons teething powder for a while. Apparently the factory burnt down. Sad

Hope that that is the only shortage though.

Southseagirl · 18/02/2012 23:14

I always find it in wilkinsons. Might be worth a try x

SleeplessInMolesey · 21/02/2012 15:16

I have been trying to find gripe water for days and have tried every supermarket and pharmacy in my area.

At first they said it was a manufacturer/supply problem, but now I have heard there may be a licensing issue. A pharmacist told my hubby the license may have been revoked (temporarily/permanently I don't know). Hope this isn't true as it is the only thing that helps my little one at night.

Anyway, for anyone still trying I have just managed to order some on-line at Lloyds Pharmacy, though you can only order 3 bottles at a time and the delivery cost makes it a tad expensive.

Thanks to Southseagirl, I had never thought of Wilkinson's and we have 2 near us.

ATruthUniversallyAcknowledged · 04/03/2012 09:36

I can get gripe waterst our local chemist, but not Ashton's & Parsons. If anyone can get hold of that I'll do you a swap!
