Hi all

Have been beast feeding my 3 week old ds and am getting progressively more fed up with continuing problems and feeling uncomfortable/in pain. Have hd the usual problems with latch and soreness and although this seemed to sort o
Itself out and no longer hurt, the problem has returned. Thinks its because ds can be really fidgety and fussy and quite aggressive at the breast, coming on and off alot. This causes havoc with nipples. Also, my breasts just seem to ache constantly, I definitely produce alot of milk and often have to express to be comfortable

. I am also still in pain from c section and am just fed up of being in pain and uncomfortable!! We sometime give ds expressed breast milk and the occasional formula feed if breasts are too sore but I woke up this morning just feeling like ive had enough. Any advice? Or just similar stories/a bit of understanding would be great x

Similar thing here Roz. He's working day and evening time today and needs some sleep. He made the comment of you'll be ok though as you're not working tomorrow. Shock Though as soon as it was out of his mouth, he realised he was in trouble. :o

Oh know what did he say?? They have to be so careful what they say these days!!

Roz - please check for thrush - bit late and i'm off to bed, but google BFN + thrush and print out the leaflet to take to the docs.

Bright red nipples & agony often equals thrush. If oyu do that thing getting out of the shower of keeping the towel away from your boobs, it probably is. Don't take any shit from the docs!

Hi jks

You're absolutely right it did turn out to be thrush and ds had it in mouth too. We've both been treated now, dh is a pharmacist so no need to even darken the docs doorway! Has pretty much cleared up now, but am still wrapping towel round me very tentatively so not out of the woods yet!!

So glad you've got access to drugs! Hope you are taking the bfn recommended dose?
I had thrush for the first time with dc3 it was awful, I had really underestimated how bad it could be, now I have loads of sympathy!

I know, bright red nipples, so sore, not good!! Yes dh has sorted us out, he knows his stuff! Been giving ds the daktarin oral gel and it worked a treat. The cream was a bit slow to work on nips but they are nearly healed and clear now. The trials and tribulations of bfeeding!!

Hello. Not sure if this is still active....but just to say I know how you're feeling. I had an emergency c and so was emotionally and physically dealing with that and had a horrendous time bfeeding (post c pain meant I couldn't position him properly so would get a bad latch on which damaged me from the start!) I cried everytime and would often have to stop doing what I was doing in-between feeds as they would hurt so much!! I did everything to get me through it....expressed / formula fed / cried lots / nipple shields and finally after 8 weeks I started to feel no pain and 8 months on am exclusively bfeeding and loving it. Although am now tryin to get him off my boobs which I'm finding it really hard!! If bfeeding is what you want to do (and you must do what feels right for you both) then hang in there. It really does get better. Hard to believe I know....but I promise it does! You're doing really well I'm sure. Better than what you think! Take it a feed at a time and do what you can :) hope you have a good Xmas and nye!

sorry to hear you have got thrush (I have too) Make sue you give the lansinoh a rest for a while, the moist environment will help the bacteria grow - you are better off trying to keep your nipples dry for a while. Also ask your DH to get you some acidophilus "good bacteria" tablets/mixture, it will help.

Thatiow - thanks for your reply, it really is tough after a c section isn't it!? I just felt like I couldn't look after him properly, never mind breast feed!! It was going ok for a while and then the thrush thing just sent everything haywire again! Was so sore had to express for a couple of days. It's been a month since my c section now and I really am still recovering...if I do too much I still know about it! Can't wait to feel fully recovered.

Mummyabroad - ta for advice, definitely on the mend now but it took a fair few days!
