My 14 week old dd has been a brilliant breast feeder from day one...great latch, no pain, all good! However in the last few days she has really started moving about whilst feeding and my nipples are starting to get sore! This takes the form of pushing her face right into my breast and then pulling away quickly. Ouchie! She also uses her feet to kick and push against anything she can, including the dog, which is very sweet but not helpful! I'm really being yanked around! Does anyone know why she's doing this? I thought the face in breast thing might be her not getting enough milk but when I check by squeezing my breast it squirts out very easily, and usually in dd's face! Oops! And is there anything I can do to get her to stop (other than the obvious ie not letting her feet touch anything)?

I dont really have anything helpful to say except that we have had this too. It is not so much BFing as some sort of gymnastics with an option on nutrition if DD is desperate...

I think some of it may be let down impatience...

I have started to try with every time she hurts me I hiss and sit her up for at least 10 seconds before letting her try again. This has reduced the number of yanks as by the third time or so she is definitely ready to eat and actually focusses on it instead of mucking around.

I could have written this post! DS is 12 weeks and was a very easy baby to feed and is now very difficult. He pulls away, screams and arches away from the breast (despite being winded etc) and is worryingly eating less than usual. He also kicks loads (which is only funny when he kicks DH in bed )

I'm hoping its a phase, as he eats fine during the night when half asleep. What is annoying me in the day is that he cries to eat then refuses the breast Xmas Confused. This will go on for about 20-30 minutes then he finally agrees to eat. The crying is really getting to me as he won't be comforted Sad

Will lurk to see if anyone has any answers

father if it goes fine at night then it might be you are trying to feed too soon during the day? We got it stuck in our head that DD wanted food every 3 hours during the day and at some point it changed to 4 hours and we didnt cotton on. So we would spend up to an hour in a feeding not feeding not sure mess.

So if you think you are getting feed me vibes then try distracting your DC for say 30 mins before actually getting the boob out?

also I think they feed much faster during the day...so your dc may be getting loads after all.
