i am attempting to bf my DC2 having struggled with DC1. It seems to be going well so far, feeding only a little uncomfortable and 4 dirty nappies in the first 24 hours.

However we were discharged today, and following a 5 hour teeding frenzy in the morning she slept for the 3 hours involved in discha

???? Waiting for the next installment :) :)

I guess you were interrupted!

Ask away - and don't forget you can also call/contact a midwife even though you have been discharged from the maternity unit :)

A three hour nap is ok, BTW - sometimes very new babies do need the odd chill out time :)

It's when these long sleeps become more than a one-off that it's concerning.

sorry, perils of typing whilst feeding.

...rge and getting home. On waking her to feed I have had trouble as my breast are hot tingley and feeding is painfull.

It feels like it did when my milk came in last time but she is only 30 hours old, is that even possible?

Any tips to make feeding more comfortable would be very gratefully received!

It could well be your milk coming in - it happens earlier after subsequent births. Is the pain due to engorgement or when she latches on? If it's due to engorgement then hand expressing some milk off to soften the breasts can be a good idea and cool compresses can be soothing. If the pain is due to her not latching on properly then you need to concentrate on getting her to take a big mouthful of breast and not just the nipple. You can always call your MW for advice or one of the national bf helplines.

My breasts are hot etc all the time but only painfull when feeding, they do feel soft though so maybe not milk coming in. I don't think it is the latch as the pain is right through the breast iyswim and I don't have any cracks/damage like I did last time round.
