DS is 9 months old.

Breast feeding was very rocky in the beginning. DS would not latch on and after a dew horrible days in hospital being milked and having in fed to him with a syringe, I'd pretty much given up and just wanted to go home.

I told the hospital I was going to formula feed. I was sobbing (oine delightful nurse said with catsbumface 'your very emotional arn't you' -yes I've just had a baby.). Then the sister mentioned to be that I didn't have to give up and there was still hope.

I kept expressing and cup feeding DS and topping up with formula. After a few dfays one of the brilliant community nurses helped me latch on with nipple shields that I then used for 5 weeks till DS latched on without.

A few cases of mastitis happened between then and now.

The breast feeding forum was amazing. All my random hysterical questions were anwsered at silly o'clock in the morning.

I'm proud of myself for going so long and really thankful to the wonderful people who took the time to answer my questions.

Sorry this is so long but felt it needed to be said.

Happy christmas everyone

:)

Maybe you can write and let the midwives know, too - they'd be thrilled they'd made a difference.

You should be very proud of yourself for getting through the problems. Online forums are fab, but the drive and the willpower came from you. I hope other mums read your post and find it inspirational and realise that the vast majority of problems can be overcome with the right support in place.

Not to hijack, but wanted to add my thanks to the fantastic support there has been on this forum.

DD now 18mths and I found all of you infinitely more helpful than the 'resources' in real life for the past 18 months and especially in the first 3.

Thanks for all!

That's a brilliant idea tiktok. I think I'll get them a christmas card with a much deserved thank you in it!

And honestly, hijack away Trillian42 its really lovely to hear other peoples stories :)

I hope so to worldgonecrazy. I couldn't believe it in the beginning when people talked about how much they loved breastfeeding but now I really do and have no intention of stopping any time soon (always used to say 'just one more week when it was hard')

byeckers :)
