My DS2 (18 weeks) will not drink any more than 3 ounces of milk in one go. i was breastfeeding him up until couple of weeks ago but I was finding so exhausting and he wasnt feeding well as we were constantly being interrupted by my DS1 (aged 2)

He takes the bottle ok but the most i can get him to drink in a day is about 10 ounces. This wouldnt bother me so much but he wakes every 1 hourish at night and seems to be hungry and takes an once then falls asleep and so on.
I NEED him to sleep longer at night as I am finding it difficult to cope with my toddler in the day time.
Is he too young for baby rice?

thomas I don't think baby rice is the answer. If has fewer calories than the formula and will probably make him more hungry. It could actually stop him taking as much formula which could have consequences for his development.

Lots of babies wake more at this time however they are fed, its called the 4 months sleep regression, so you're not on your own.

Is there someone who could do some of the night feeds for you?

Hi Thomas,, I am having similar issues. My little girl has been ebf and is now 13 weeks but not putting on enough weight. I thought I had bfig cracked and was told in the beginning not to worry that she was a snacker and liked little feeds more often so i had not worried too much that she only feed for 15 minutes at a time and was happy to keep offering the breast more often. anyway now i have been battling to get her feeding for longer and I am constantly interupted by my demanding 3 year old and getting my 6 year old to school etc. I feel that maybe bottle is best now. Thing is after finally finding a bottle she likes, she wont drink more than 2/3oz at a time and I end up then offering her the breast as welll and I am not quite sure how to get her to drink more without going completely cold turkey with my breast milk. I feel like I will still have weight issues with her as she wont drink enough of the formula either! i never thought I would struggle to bottle feed a baby!

I am getting to the same point as you of just feeling exhausted! I am going to go back to the HV clinic next week to get advice on changing her to bottle completely.
Maybe a visit to the HV might be the way to go for you too. Sure they will be able to offer you some advice to get little one sleeping a bit longer.

Sending you a big hug and really hope it gets easier for you soon. x
