18 week old has suddenly refused to feed in any position except sitting upright on my lap while I'm bouncing on a birthing ball. She does feed OK at night when all sleepy.

Went for 6 hours on Saturday without taking the breast, ended up syringing and cup feeding expressed milk. What is going on? She shrieks and writhes when I so much as put her in BF position getting really cross or sucks for a couple of sucks and then gets cross and fussy.

She has got a cold, maybe sore throat or ear pain? Also feeds have been disrupted by interruptions from older child quite a lot.

Have her checked for an ear infection and meanwhile give one dose of child
Nurofen and see if she feeds better?

My DS dis this - turned out he had silent reflux so feeding hurt.
To get through it I fed him asleep (so rocked to sleep then popped on boob) and got the reflux sorted. It wasn't the normal distraction you get at this age.

Iggly she has silent reflux and is on ranitidine, gaviscon and domperidone after being hospitalised at 6 weeks. She is stable on the meds all under control. Actually saw paediatrician last week for a review and she is doing fine.

This suddenly started on Friday after weeks of no feeding problems. Have tried calpol and calprofen.
