How long do your breasts still produce milk for after you've given up?

DS stopped nursing in Januray just befoe he turned 3. Today I noticed little crusty bits on my nipples like when they leak colustrum. Does this mean I'm still producing milk? Or are my breasts about to fall off? :o

Hmmm well I hope someone else backs me up on this but I still have this and I gave up BFing when DS2 was about 16 months and he is 4 in Feb.

Maybe I am a freak though!

Well I had zero milk the day after I stopped, so can't help- does it taste like milk?

ValiumQueen · 08/12/2011 18:11

I stopped in July after 16 months. Still get it, indeed can squeeze and get a few drops if I am in the mood. And mine does taste of milk (checking it was not pus you see...) I think it depends on how long you fed for???

MadameBoo · 08/12/2011 18:11

It's all crusty so I'm not going to taste it! It's not like milk. My breasts are falling off aren't they?

How often does it happen Wizard?

DD I fed for over a year but my milk dried up pretty much straight away. DS I fed for nearly two years but I still get milk a year on!
Try hand expressing that should give you an answer to your question.
