BF mum - keep getting sick

Hi, LO is 7 weeks, I'm breastfeeding, but am having a second bout of vomiting within 3 weeks. It's exhausting trying to BF while I'm so wiped out. LO not taking a bottle, so OH can't help much. Question is whether this sickness for mum is normal? Any ideas why?

I dont think the sickness is normal. Be kind to yourself, 7 weeks is tiny. Rest and feed and make sure you are drinking lots. Nausea can be linked to dehydration. If you feel sick then constant small sips of lukewarm drinks, soup for lunch and eating fruit and ice cream all help.

I found I got sick and dizzy if I didn't control my blood sugar (but I did have GD in pregnancy) so I had low GI snacks such as yoghurt, oat biscuits etc regularly. Especially after night feeds.

If in doubt, check with your GP or HV.

Thank you. Will see GP tomorrow as family advice is to stop BF and I'd be loathe to do that.

There are lots of winter sickness bugs going around so you might have caught those or it might be something else - any chance you are pg?

If it is just a sick bug the best thing to do is as HappyCamel says little sips of liquids as often as you can. Big drinks can just make you feel sick again (speaking from personal experience). You don't need to stop bfing unless you want to.

Hopefully you have a sensible GP who won't tell you to stop bfing....
