night feeds for 13 month old - should I reduce amount of milk offered?

Hello,

my 13 month old usually wakes twice a night and falls asleep on the bottle. She drinks about 4 ounces each time, which I think (but I might be wrong) suggests hunger rather than just wanting a quick ounce to settle her.

At her 10 month check, I was advised to slowly reduce the amount offered, but she is just under the 2nd centile and I'm worried that if I do that, she will lose weight. On the other hand, surely she'll just eat more during the day to make up for it, and she's been hovering around the 2nd centile since she was a month old, so it is normal for her.

Reading this I think I'm making an issue out of nothing - anyone else had a similar non-dilemma? What did you do?

i dont think she needs night feeds at this age- most children dont need night feeds beyond 6 months old, i think, although a lot still have it for comfort or from habit.
i think your plan is rigght - gradually reduce and she'll just take more in the day.
i had to do this but with breastfeeding which was hard becuase you never knew how much they were getting - so a gradual approach should be quite straightforward - good luck!
