I know there's not a lot in it but, I know some people have different preferences and I just wondered why. My DS is 4mo and I am breastfeeding but I want to start weaning him (HV advice) because he's a hungry boy and my bangers just aren't enough! So for now I just want the formula to mix with baby rice etc so that my supplies aren't further reduced. I was expressing for this but I'm struggling to get enough so need a back up..

sorry had to go off and do dinner.

op yes, it's v, v, v, common at around the 4 month mark!

i would second the suggestion to offer more than 2 sides at each feed, to see if that helps.
Obviously, as others have said, if you wish to introduce formula to see if it helps him go a bit longer between feeds or just to give you a break that it absolutely your perogative, but there are risks to topping up too frequently with formula and it can undermine your supply of milk which I would hate to see happen if you are keen to carry on breastfeeding for longer.

I think this is one of those stages of breastfeeding where it seems like a real hassle, but when you look back you think ahhh it wasn't so bad! and it seems like a really short time in the grand scheme of things. and the sense of achievement you gain when you get through it and think "wow, i did that" is immense :)

If you look back from 6mo you'd think omg it's easy. The start of weaning is just so much harder in comparison. I felt I was constantly feeding DD. She was still on 2-3 hourly feeds, adding 3 solid meals, it's really hard work. The meals were 30min at least and super messy with a lot of clean up. I guess if you use jars it's easier but I was using home made.

We've all been there. Go with the flow and you will be over it before you realise.

HippOrganic - not as gassy for baby , easy burps, and cheaper than the rest!

But does sound like sleep regression imo. My 21wk old is feeding every 2ish hours. But does go longer at night. Just little and often for my Fat Boy - and he IS a Fat Boy!

Good Luck with whatever you decide.
