Hi, ds is 14 mo. He is be once or twice aday (recently reduced from 3-4 times).

I have an area if thickened skin on my left nipple which I think is due to teeth rubbing which can be a littlebit uncomfoortable. I've tried different positions and tilting his head back further but it doesnt really make any difference. It's been like this for a while, and I probably should have tried harder to correct things, but as it wasn't painful I wasn't too worried...

However I'm now experiencing nipple blanching just on the left aide, after and between feeds. My whole breast has periods of being quite painful- it's a tingling shooting pain - and I checked my nipple during the pain and it goes white- pink again once the pain has subsided.

So I have two problems - the area of thickened skin (which started a milk blister which resolved completely) which has appeared over a few weeks. And the pain and blanching which has started in the last week or so.

I imagine the two are connected and caused by some kind of friction with teeth or mouth!

Does anyone have any suggestions on how to fix it?!!

Sorry that should read 'he is bf once or twice a day' and 'started as a milk blister which resolved completely' ......bad typing!

Sorry, I meant to reply to this earlier. I have had a similar problem a couple of times with DD1 (3 yo) and it was fixed with some position jiggling and encouraging to sit bloody still.

It took a bit of perseverance before she changed her latch. DD1 sits up on my lap now instead of being cradled but it depends on the size of your DS and you so try a few different ones and see what works. If it's painful during a feed then you could unlatch him with your little finger and start over, he should get the hang eventually.

Thanks EauRouge. I have tried a few different positions over a few weeks but the thickened area on the nipple is currently really sore so I can't tell what is ok and what isn't latch wise at the minuteSad ow!

Our proportions don't allow ds to sit on my lap to fee at the moment, there must be a better position though because the right side is fine!
