rock hard boob

dd has bitten my right boob so much that i've decided just to feed from my left boob (she's 9 months and taking solids finally so want to wean her off the breast completely as soon as possible anyway)

my right boob isn't too painful, a bit sore when i touch it but it's rock hard. i last fed off it 1 week ago, i thought it would have softened up by now? when i stopped bf ds my boobs were back to nomad within a couple of days!

does this sound normal?

You could try hand expressing in the shower (nice warm water flowing over you can help the let down) or hand expressing in the bath (you can try laying down on your side to see if that helps ease it).

You don't want to express to empty just to take the 'top' off IYSWIM. If you express to empty, you'll start making more milk and it sounds like you really don't want that!

Thanks, have tried expressing a bit but very painful and nothing comes out. it feels a bit less sore today actually so maybe it's just a case of waiting?
