11 mo, how many feeds will maintain supply?

11 mo DS and in no hurry to stop breastfeeding.
He still feeds at night (which is a bit of a pain) , and he also feeds morning, before and after his two naps (sometimes just for a minute sometimes longer or a full feed), plus a big leisurely feed of 30 mins or longer before bed.

He has 4 meals or 3 meals and a snack every day and drinks water with meals and there's always a cup of water to hand when he is playing or in buggy ( we live in the tropics).

I think I'd like to cut down night feeding to one a night, then phase it out completely. I can see the pre breakfast and last thing at night feeds remaining for months but wonder if he's feeding enough in the day to maintain my supply if I cut out night feeds over the next month? He is very distractable hence feeding before naps in dark room when he will keep still and settle down rather than giggle, pull my hair, fidget, sing etc etc...

Sorry long post! Thanks for help...

It might be different for everybody, but I was about to start a thread because I can't stop my supply! I cut down to just one breastfeed every 24 hours about 2 months ago then stopped feeding completely last week (Dd2 13 months) and I'm still producing milk. Anyway, my point is you should be able to cut out the night feeds without worrying about supply.

Thank you for the reply!

I guess I'm worried t if he only really has two proper feeds - wake up in bed with us feed and pre bed feed- and just snacks during the day, that wnt be enough. I read somewhere that you need 4 x in 24 hours to keep it up, is that right? Does anyone know about that?

I've never heard that. I've been feeding twice a day - pre-breakfast and last thing - for about two months since I went back to work. DS2 is 15 months. Before then was on four feeds a day (no night time since about 8 months). Have no problem, DS2 still quite happy.

Oh, that's good. I know supply should e pretty solid after nearly a year but don't want to risk it dropping s whenever he s teething or poorly it's just milk he wants...

Can't remember where I heard about 4 x in 24 hours, might hav been from another mum out here...
