Expressing at work?

I am posting this question on behalf of a friend who is going back to work next month. She is EBF and is hoping to express at work so that she can continue. However, her employers have said she can have 10 minutes twice a day but she has to make it up at the end of the day.

Does anyone please know whether this is correct, or can she question it?

No time to check the specifics but I think your friend's employer is being a bit tight. I expressed at work for a few weeks and 10 mins was not nearly enough.

www.hse.gov.uk/mothers/faqs.htm this link has the rules in it and I also recommend your friend reads this one abm.me.uk/returning-work-whilst-breastfeeding so she is prepared.

I was in denial and wish I'd looked into it more. Luckily(!) my babe wanted to feed all night and when I discussed with HV we concluded he'd cope with 6 hours away from me during the day from 8 mo as he was eating solids well.

I wish your friend all the luck in making it work - she's lucky to have you looking out for her and supporting her (half the battle is not feeling like you're asking to do something weird!) Wink
