Deep tissue thrush

Hello:
I had deep tissue thrush when I was feeding my DS, and gave up feeding him at 4 months due to the agony I was in and the Fluconazole I was prescribed not working. (I only took one course)
I am now currently feeding my DD (she is 3 months) and when she was 4 weeks I developed deep tissue thrush again and the dr gave me the course of Fluconazole (10 days with a big dose at the begining). The thrush did get better but it gradually came back. Returned to the dr who reluctantly gave me another course of Fluconazole, cream for the nipples and some oral gel for her. However this course finished three weeks ago and the thrush has once again returned. DD has not had any symptoms in her mouth and I don't on my nipples.
Has anyone or does anyone know anyone who has had to keep taking Fluconazole throughout BF? I am concerned that dr won't give me another course and if she does I am worried I will only be symptom free for a couple of weeks before it comes back again. I would like to BF for six months this time as felt I stopped too early with my DS.
Also I have noticed when the thrush is bad my boobs become very engorged so I have that pain to deal with as well!
Can anyone help or offer any advice. Thanks x

hi there, i'm affraid i can't help you much but the dr thought i had thrush but after speaking to a BF counselor i discovered it was actually all down to my daughter not latching well (she was 6 months at that stage so never would have thought that could be an issue) . i would really recommend the nct breastfeeding helpline NCT Breastfeeding Line 0300 330 0771 (8am-10pm, 7 days a week) . They are very experienced and have helped me so much with a few BF issues. Hope you feel better soon!

Thanks for your response and suggestions. I have been to the NCT breastfeeding counsellors and they agree it is thrush. I have had my dd position checked and all seems good. But I am going to see them again this week to see if there is anything else they can suggest x
