dd2 is coming up to three months old. She is bottle fed. From about 7 weeks she started sleeping more or less through the night. She had a bottle at about 11.30 and that was it until about 6.30 = 7am. For the last two weeks she's been waking every 2 and a half to three hours all through the night for a bottle. She's on 6 oz and drinks nearly that each time. This all started when she wasn't very well but she's been fine for the last week but the waking has continued. We've gone from getting quite good sleep to now having hardly any. She does settle back to sleep after each bottle but having to get up every couple of hours is really hard. Surely she doesn't need 4 or more bottles throughout the night as she feeds well during the day.

She's already on hungry baby milk and has been for ages so what else can we do????Please help???.

no, she's not draining them, she's leaving about an ounce in each one. I've tried the water but as soon as she realises what it is she cries.
Oh well, I don't suppose there is anything I can do, I'm just really tired! We'd got used to having decent chunks of sleep and now it's like having a newborn all over again. Shouldn't really complain though as she is a really gorgeous smiling baby

that's the thing, it's not just waking up she actually wants the milk. It just seems like an awful lot throught the night. She's quite a big baby so I would have thought she'd be taking on enough milk throughout the day to see her through for most of the night. DD1 was probably only waking once at this stage.

Can you add an extra ounce to her daytime feeds?

Can you add an extra feed in during the day rather than bigger feeds?

hermykne · 02/01/2006 09:17

bipbump
i would only give her smaller amts in the night and then cuddle her back to sleep until u get it down to 1oz and then zilch.
prior to 11.30pm whens her last bottle? and is she hungry enough to finish the 11.30 bottle?

She has a bottle when we put her to bed at about 7.30pm. She then goes to bed and has another one when we go at about 11.30pm. She sometimes drinks all of this but not always. She usually does drink all of her 7.30pm bottle (when I say all, she has about 5 ozs.) Giving her smaller feeds at night sounds like a good idea. At least it's something I can try! thank you

Does she wake at 11.30 pm or do you wake her? If you wake her maybe try waking her a little later ie 12 midnight, she may take a little more and it may push her through a little longer.
