Nipple pain - thrush?

Hi, I'm bfing dd 19 weeks and she has been having latch problems on the left side snce having a cold. Now I have some pain in the nipple and also behind it. The pain is constant not just when feeding so that makes me think there may be more to it.

DD has no signs of thrush and I've never had it so don't know what to look for. Could it be thrush in one side?

Have you or dd had antibiotics?
Does the pain feel like it's radiating? I know it's hard to describe.
Don't want to alarm you, but signs of thrush in a baby are not always obvious. A GP may well give you the all clear, but a breastfeeding counsellor is the most well-qualified person to advise you.
Do you live in London? If so, I can give you details of a wonderful counsellor who will set your mind at rest.

No antibiotics, and it's not terribly painful more uncomfortable. Live in the back of beyond so no bfc anywhere near me. I may call my hv tomorrow as she is very good with bfing.

Seems unlikely to be thrush, then, if no antibios. Also, there would probably be more symptoms anyway, like frothy nappies/pulling away/more wind than usual. HV sounds like a v good idea -- good luck!

Meant to add: the reason I contributed is that my DS had oral and intestinal thrush for 8 weeks (awful) and now I feel like an expert!

Look up blocked ducts probably the most likely.
