Hi all
Just looking for some advice/your experience ref BF and exercise.

My DD is 17 weeks, and rather than losing weight I seem to be piling it on. Before falling pregnant i was a keen runner and would like to get some of my fitness back.... am I able to run and breastfeed?

Cheers

Provided you have asked your GP and they have said yes. Then yes you should be fine. Take it easy, be gentle and consider wearing two bras. For comfort you might like to try to breastfeed first.

I started running again after 3 months or so and continued to breastfeed until DS was 1. I started doing Buggyfit first which is brilliant and was a good way to build myself up again before I could manage a decent run myself. Wear 2 sports bras and you'll be fine. Good luck!

Ofc you can. I remember it's like 6wo for vaginal birth and longer for c-section before you can exercise. I do two exercise classes a week since week 6 or so. These are mummy and baby classes where you can take your baby along and it's fab.

Want to add one of them is an aerobics class with lots of impact. Like others say, make sure you have a good sports bra. And listen to your body.

I swim, run and do buggy fit. My advice is the same as everyone else and make sure you top up fluid levels - I get super thirsty. If you are bfing you also still have high levels of relaxin so be careful when stretching. And enjoy it!

Thanks everyone... off to buggy fit this week!!

Yes I started running again at 7 weeks and back on my mountain bike at 9 weeks. It?s best to go after a feed so you?re not uncomfortable and have a good bra!
