Hi,

I take steroids to control an autoimmune disease which has flared up and my dose us higher than normal at the mo. Due to see consultant next week and may have dose upped some more. EBF 12week old.

I know 40mg per day is the safe limit in terms of what a bf baby will receive through the milk, but i remember reading that past a certain level taking steroids inhibits milk production, anyone know what that limit is?

I think you need to talk to the Breastfeeding Network's Drugs in Breastmilk helpline. Wendy who runs it is a qualified pharmacist as well as a bf supporter. They do have fact sheets online too.
