Breastfeeding while sick/on antibiotics?

I am going to see my GP today, as I can barely swallow/breathe, the glands in my neck are huge, plus a terrible sore throat, plus the beginnings of brown phlegm, but no cough.

I'm still breastfeeding exclusively (ten weeks thus far) as I understand this will help give my son immunity from the infection. My question is this:

Will taking antibiotics reduce my milk supply? Are there precautions I should take while being around my baby? I'm going to run the type of antibiotic, if required, past my pediatrician first, as he is aware I'm only breastfeeding.

Here's some info - breastfeedingnetwork.org.uk/pdfs/Antibiotics_and_Breastfeeding_March_2009.pdf

Many doctors, even paeds don't know diddly about breastfeeding and would advise to wean so double check anything a doctor tells you.

My doctor has been fantastic the couple of times I have needed antibiotics while bf. He has always stressed that he is giving me one that is safe to take while bf etc. With DS2 I had to take them while he was still bf at nearly 2 years old - I made a comment that I knew he was getting too old and the gp (male) told me not to be so silly and that it was lovely to see. So yes some doctors might be misinformed etc about bf, but some can be good - fingers crossed yours is the latter!

most ab's are fine to take whilst breastfeeding.
time's link is great, you can print it out and take it with you.
hope you feel better soon!

Seems I have the beginnings of bronchitis, so need to go on Zithromax. Anyone have personal experience of taking this while b'fing? Seems to be okay, but want to know what to expect, especially in a baby with mild reflux.

TimeWasting, luckily both my paediatrician and GP are ardent supporters of breastfeeding, and have both urged me to continue while taking the meds.
