dd is 2.5. She has been down to one feed in the mornings since about 22months. In the last month she has been skipping a day or two or occasionally three. Today for the first time she skipped the fourth in a row so are we at an end? I didn't think this wee girl was ever going to give up but now that it could be here I am a little sad. End of a chapter of my life, if this is the end then I will never bfeed again, strange thought liberating and a little sad.

Aw, yes it is a little sad, but what a fantastic start you've given her. You'll have all the memories too.

Might not be the end but just the beginning of the end IYSWIM - my now 3.11y/o went through a stage of going up to a week between feeds when she was two, very erratic (it might be every 2 days, 6 days, 4 days, 1 day, 7 days, 2 in 1 day, etc). She then fed a bit more frequently/predictably for a few months (once a day/every few days) and then went through a period of ill health so fed lots more but has now settled back down to about once a day/every few days.

2.5 years is wonderful whether it ends now or a little later you can maintain sporadic feeding for a long time at this stage of lactation (involution or weaning milk) and any milk your DD does get is super concentrated and packed with antibodies.
