Cows milk at almost 11 months?

My DS is a few days off 11 months. I am going back to work next week for just a day a week and my little boy is BF. He has never taken a bottle and the time I tried him with formula in a cup he spat it out and refused the cup. The cows milk is just to have during the day for mid morning/afternoon and I can BF him first thing and before bed. He drinks water happily from a cup. What would you do?

I'd give the cow's milk to him, assuming you/DS's father don't have any lactose intolerances. My DS often went without a bf during the day if we were out at 11 months. If he needs to he'll demand an extra feed at night to make it up.

there is lactose in breastmilk so he is unlikely to be lactose intolerant! Does he have cows milk in cereal, cooking, etc? If so, he is likely to tolerate cows milk as a drink too. DS had the odd drink of full fat cows milk from 9 months and switched fully at 12 months (was bottle fed)

I was under the impression that it was the salt in cow's milk that was the problem rather than lactose.

Here is a link.

That link says the main drink should not be cows milk and talks about a baby taking 25oz of it. Giving an 11 month old one or two drinks of cows milk one day a week while the rest remains breastmilk is not going to be a problem. It is normally advised not to give cows milk as the main drink before 1 year due to the lack of iron and vitamins rather than the salt content.
