Ameda or Medela?

I shall be expressing about 5 or 6 times a day for some time as I have not been able to get my baby to latch effectively. I have a medela swing which works well and I am happy with it but I want to get a dual pump to speed things up, especially at night.

I am thinking of either the ameda lactaline or the medela pump in style. I need a strong pump that will last....so I am thinking that I should spend more and get the medela (or get one off ebay).

Anybody tried both?

Not tried both but my Ameda Lactaline was fantastic. Have you thought of borrowing or hiring one to see if you like it too?

I have an Ameda. It was recommended to me as it has a 'closed' system, whereas I believe the Medela is an 'open' system. When I googled the two I was Shock.

I don't express much (about 10 times in total in four months. And, ahem, about four of those are in the freezer), but have found it very good. You need three hands to hold both pumps and operate the controls, but you get the knack.

Jilted - good point. I think the hiring option may be the way to go as I will be expressing so much. Thanks for pointing that out.

STL - looks like the Ameda is good but I may stick with medela because I have a load of their bottles already and I know their swing works for me OK.

I have the Medela hands free / dual one and I am very pleased. Easy to use clean and comes with loads of stuff such as bag, cooler bag and 4 bottles.

I have been pumping once everyday.
