I am all for breastfeeding and trying to promote it but to be honest if I saw someone wearing those t-shirts in public I would think they were very smug and a little bit nuts!

I'm pro-breastfeeding and all - but I hate the tops. Why would you do that? Make a show of it and all - it is like saying it isn't the usual thing to do and you are rebelling from the norm. IYSWIM?

I'm also pro-bf, but these tops are bizarre. I hate clothes with slogans on full stop, but I don't really get the point of these at all.

The 3rd one I guess is taking a pop at the fact people make comments about mothers not being able to produce enough bm to satisfy a baby and using formula instead?

Having 'failed' at breast feeding and getting PND, seeing someone wearing one of those, would have made me feel even worse.
But I'm better now and would probably just think 'silly smug cow'!!

I agree with ams23....no point being smug and advertising your business to other people......just get on with enjoying your baby and let ff do the same!!!! More to the point I really don't think anyone (certainly people in the street) really cares how you feed your baby....so long as that baby is fed and loved.
I know lots of young mums and it's things like this that put them off even trying to bf....they see breastfeeding as an old lady/stuffy/hippy thing to do and most young girls would think slogan t-shirts (of any sort) are lame!
Oh and fwiw I loved bf, and think those who can keep it up when it gets really hard are tougher than me, before anyone thinks I'm a hater.
Have a nice day feeding your LO, however you achieve it, enjoy them while you can.

These sorts of things are detrimental to the normalisation of breastfeeding, which is really the key to upping rates, and generally just get peoples backs up. Not great IMO.

I really like them, but I wouldn't wear one tbh. I wouldn't wear any slogan t-shirt though.

I am buying the 'Mummy milk is better than milk from just any old cow' mugs though, they even made my DH laugh.

I sort of like the superpower one as it seems a bit more light hearted than the others. But then, I have a good friend who really struggles with breastfeeding due to a medical condition I didn't even know existed until she was diagnosed by a breastfeeding counsellor. All of those tops would just be rubbing her nose in it and that's not what she deserves at all. The potential to cause upset is just huge.

I think you've all defined why I was so surprised to find them! I have nothing against slogan tops per se, but they should really serve a purpose. I found the "don't make enough formula" one interesting as a point to make - but not on a tee (yuck). Meaning, it's the sort of thing you might share within a couple of BFing friends - but the idea of wearing it where anyone and everyone would see it seems really heartless.

I didn't take it like that at all - that would be an awful thing to say to someone :( I saw it as making an observation of the fact that so many mothers think that they can't make enough milk because of poor support and information - one of the very frustrating and sad things we come across every day. Crikey, if someone chose it to make a dig like that, that would just be terrible :( It made me smile because of the way it turned something which is a daily frustration on its head, but to those women who are on the other end of that poor support and information it would be a real kick in the teeth.

Good, I'm not the only one who was rather shocked by them then! I had wondered...

I am pro bf, and plan to bf dc2 when he arrives in New Year, but I hate hate hate those tacky, smug tops, and the ones that take a pop at formula feeding mothers are samestown that one is dreadful.

I would be really pleased if someone wore a top like this as it would save me the bother of having to get to know them, as I would know straight away that they were a smug tedious bore.

Urgh - Samstown that t-shirt is dreadful. I wouldn't call a non-vaxed baby lucky (unless you mean lucky they haven't come across any of the illnesses yet...)
