Shit a hair has just fallen into a bottle of expressed breast milk, do I need to chuck it now?

Ahhhhh I'm expressing into a bottle and one of my hairs has fallen into the bottle, I've fished it out.

Would you still give the milk to the baby or throw it?

When did you last wash your hair? Unless your hair is extremely dirty, I would still feed the milk to the baby, but probably wouldn't freeze it for later consumption. You wouldn't be particularly concerned if the baby got one of your hairs in his/her mouth, I imagine.

How old is your baby? Are there any health issues?

I probably would still use it. If the milk is just being expressed now, the antibodies etc are still alive, and so would destroy any bacteria from the hair. I would be reasonably careful with the milk re: refridgerating etc, but then you always have to be.

I'd scoop it out quickly and pretend it hadn't happened! Your baby will have sucked your hair before! Don't worry about it, I think.

A hair is nothing. Think of the dead skin cells and loose minuscule hairs that will come off when you're feeding.

Thanks.
The thought of chucking 6oz of milk down the sink was rather depressing.
Only washed my hair this morning Grin
he is 3 weeks and no Heath problems.
