Has mixed feeding worked for anyone?

I BF for a short while with dd but changed to bottle fairly quickly after lots of pain and finding it really difficult to get on with. I admit I also didn't enjoy it in the least with dd.
I am due again in October and although I would like to BF, I am thinking about possibly mixed feeding after a little while, maybe in the evenings/night time.

I don't mean to be rude but I know sole BF is best Grin ect.... so wanted to hear from some mums who this had worked for specifically.
I have an autoimmune problem which makes me extremely tired at the best of times and comes and goes and I am really worried about dealing with a toddler and being woken up several times at night time to BF. I know it all sounds terribly selfish but I know how I work and I feel somehow this might be the best way.

Bottle last thing at night from day 1 worked OK, bf for about 6mths. Dd slept, we all slept. Result! But advice is as everyone else said, get bf estabished first, so maybe I was an odd one.

We mixed fed from when my was DD was 3 weeks old as my supply just wasn't keeping up and we were both getting stressed, tired and upset. For months she just had 1 bottle.
Now she's 4.5 months old and we're still mix feeding but she has just started dropping her daytime bfs (and having more bottles) not what I want but I'm not going to fight her too hard on it.
Mix feeding has worked really well for us though, at one point I didn't think we were going to manage to bf at all past a few weeks and even now she's getting at least 50/50 breastmilk and I'm looking to keep it up for as long as she will let me. So definitely possible to do successfully.

I mix feed as son was small at birth (5 10) and ended up below 5lb at one point and ended up in hospital. i feed him both breasts then a bottle and it works well for us and he is putting on weight now.
