How much milk to leave?

My DS feeds 5 times a day (including 1 EMB of 6oz), is 19 wks, weighs 14.7lb. I'm going on a course at a weekend and so will need EBM for the 3 morning/afternoon feeds each day. So 6 feeds in total. How much should I leave for him? Does it work the same way as formula fed babies - i.e. 2.5 times their weight in oz? Or is it different for breastfed babies? Thanks.

I would leave 6 lots of 6 oz and a couple of cartons of formula as emergency back up.

ime babies are satisfied on a lower volume of ebm than of formula - in the case of dd, about half (but she may not have been typical).

I'd probably go for about 5x 6oz myself.

sorry, 6x 6oz, like hercules says.

don't leave emergency formula though - if it's not enough you can always give a really big evening feed (I assume it's not a residential course?)

ahhhh, but i am a worrier!

It's not residential - i'll be doing the morning & evening feeds (and possibly a few overnight depending on DSs mood!). Better get expressing - It'll take me about a week to get it all!

suzi - if you have trouble getting that much don't worry. If he's anything like my 2 he'll have his biggest feeds morning and evening anyway, so even 6x 4 oz will probably be enough. Just be prepared for a looong evening feed!
