Dreading the next feed

DS2 is two weeks old, and so far everything has been going well, normal let down pains and tenderness, couple o blocked ducts that I managed to sort out myself.

Then today out of nowhere it became absolute agony feeding of one side, nipple pain and deep in the breast as well, toe curling pain.

So now I am terrified of the next feed! Just fed off the other side and expressed off the bad side with hot flannels etc in the hope that it would help clear it, but still really sore and getting myself wound up about it. Doesn't help that I have a few other things goin on that are making me feel pathetically fragile.

Is here anything else I can do to try and clear it? I know I need to let him feed off that side but the thought of it is making me want to cry

Sounds awful for you you Belina

Does the pain continue after the feeding? If so, it could be thrush. Alot of women describe the pain as a stabbing one, or a feeling of shards of glass being pulled through the breast. Can you see any white spots in DS's mouth?

Can you get somewhere tomorrow to have a chat with someone about this? Maybe a breastfeeding support group or perhaps give one of the bfing helplines a call.

Sorry that's not much use, but hope things get better for you soon.
