I have!! Asked dh if he wanted to - from a cup Wink and it freaked him out!! Now I can't help but wonder if you have or have given bm to anyone other than dc?? I mean- it's Soooo ok to drink animal milk but not human?? Also he wouldn't drink powdered milk but would happily give it to baby?? He really just plays along with me as I'm ebf!!! Just wondered your thoughts on this???

Yes I tasted some freshly expressed and it was very sweet, I thought like non-alcoholic baileys.

DH had some too and he thought the same. I had to persuade him a bit but it's only milk, isn't it, I told him not to be so silly Grin

I have. Out of curiosity several times. DH has too, but only because I didn't tell him I used it to make DD's porridge fingers.

I've tasted it, was quite nice, very sweet. Disgusting once frozen though.

DH has tried some direct from it's source. Bit of a shock for him as it was 6 months after I stopped BF DS1! He was not amused.

I have and DH has. I had some as when I had mastitis I had a go at relieving the backlog myself. [mourns loss of once pert breasts] it is quite sweet and sticky, quite pleasant actually.

Charleymouse, I have also had to relieve myself when away from ds for a weekend (I couldn't express). I had an awful hangover too, a mouthful of warm sweet milk was not pleasant.

Wow, I would have to have a really long bendy neck to be able to do that! Grin Would have been useful a couple of weeks ago though when dd2 was teething and wouldn't feed.

What are porridge fingers?

Petisa it's basically porridge thick enough to be cut into fingers to be picked up: 3tbsp porridge, 3tbsp milk, soak for 5 min, microwave 2 min, cut into fingers, allow to cool a bit, serve. Think it's from the BLW cookbook.

my frozen bm tasted bleurgh today - shall i assume DS would not drink it if it was off? It was on his weetabix though....

I've tasted it after licking it off my wrist when checking an expressed bottle for warmth. My mum did the same when feeding my DS a bottle and didn't bat an eyelid even when I pointed out later that she'd just tasted my BM!

Intrigued/ impressed by those who can drink from the tap I've just tried to see if I could reach as I'm also very well endowed. In case you're wondering - I can't. Am relieved, if a little concerned that I felt the need to check.

I have tasted my own BM as well - seems a very natural thing to do. I think it tastes like melon juice. Formula tastes very different (and horrible), which is odd as you would think they would try to mimic the taste of BM.

I tried it - sweet and watery. ExDP loved it, which was a good thing as every time we had sex he'd get covered in it. My boobs literally sprayed the stuff as soon as they were touched!

I tried it to make sure it wasn't off during the brief period when I was exclusively expressing for my son (never managed to latch) - comparing old with fresh when it had gone all funny in the fridge (my milk separates really quickly).

With my daughter, she never took a bottle, but I had all the kit for expressing and I knew I could pump easily so I pumped for the milk bank (shameless plug for milk banking there). When I pumped a little too much to put in the freezing bottle (distracted while pumping), I would give it to my son. He rather liked it - he'd ask for it if I had extra (to the extent that I didn't get that much to freeze into ice cubes for adding to weaning food). My DH raised half an eyebrow and then rapidly unraised it before I said anything, maybe my expression told him not to! DS is very prone to colds and the like and is still young enough to be still feeding (well, extended feeding, he's nearly 3) should he have latched on, so I think it's good for him. (DS did suggest he should feed from me, but I looked at that mouthful of teeth and his chewed clothes and beaker spouts and thought I didn't want to risk him not understanding he shouldn't bite.)
